Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist who is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system.
He is also known for his pioneering work in radio and electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tesla’s work in these fields was of immense importance in the development of wireless communication and the electrification of the world.
Tesla was born in 1856 in the Austrian Empire (present-day Croatia) and died in 1943 in the United States. He was ethnically Serbian but became a naturalized American citizen in 1891.

Work in Europe:
Tesla began his career in 1881 working as an electrical engineer for the Central telegraph office in Budapest. He then worked for a short time with the Continental Edison Company in Paris before moving to New York City in 1884.
Move to the United States:
Tesla arrived in New York in 1884 and immediately began working for Thomas Edison. He worked for Edison for a year, before the two men had a falling out over a financial disagreement.
Inventions:
Tesla is best known for his development of the alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. He also made important contributions to the fields of radio and electromagnetism.
Later years:
In the later years of his life, Tesla became increasingly reclusive and spent much of his time working on projects that he never completed. He died in 1943, aged 86.
Death:
Tesla died on 7 January 1943 at the age of 86, in New York City. The cause of death was listed as coronary thrombosis.
Legacy:
Tesla’s legacy is one of a brilliant inventor and visionary who made important contributions to the development of electricity and wireless communication. He has been featured in many works of popular culture.
