    Abigail Johnson is an American businesswoman who is the current chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fidelity Investments and the great-granddaughter of Edward C. Johnson II, the company’s founder. Under her leadership, Fidelity has become one of the world’s largest asset management firms, with more than $2 trillion in assets under management.

    Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Johnson graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a bachelor’s degree in art history. She began her career at Fidelity in 1988 as an equity research analyst. She subsequently held a number of senior roles within the company, including president of Personal Investing, head of Fidelity’s retirement and benefits businesses, and co-chief operating officer. She was named CEO in 2014, succeeding her father Edward “Ned” Johnson III.

    In addition to her role at Fidelity, Johnson is a director of General Electric and a member of the Harvard Corporation. She is also a trustee of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
