Early life
Kobe Bean Bryant was born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents are former professional basketball player Joe Bryant and Pamela Cox Bryant.
Kobe was raised in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. He attended Lower Merion High School, where he was a standout player for the school’s basketball team.
High school career
As a freshman, Bryant was selected to the varsity team. He became the first freshman in decades to start for the varsity team.
