Chadwick Boseman was an American actor. He is best known for his portrayal of T’Challa / Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Boseman was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He graduated from T. L. Hanna High School in 1995 and Howard University in 2000, where he studied directing. After graduating from Howard, Boseman moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. His first acting role was in an episode of the television series Third Watch in 2003. He also had small roles in the films All About the Benjamins (2002) and Get on Up (2014).
In 2016, Boseman played the title role in the biographical film Jackie Robinson, which chronicles the life of the baseball player of the same name. The following year, he had his breakthrough role as T’Challa / Black Panther in the Marvel Studios film Captain America: Civil War (2016). He reprised the role in Black Panther (2018) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Boseman died on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43, from colon cancer.
