Will Smith was born on September 25, 1968, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Caroline (Bright), a Philadelphia school board administrator, and Willard C. Smith, Sr., a refrigeration engineer. He grew up in West Philadelphia’s Wynnefield neighborhood, and was raised Baptist. He has three siblings, sister Pamela, who is four years older, and twins Harry and Ellen, who are three years younger. Smith attended Our Lady of Lourdes, a private Catholic elementary school in Philadelphia. His parents separated when he was 13, but did not actually divorce until around 2000. Career:

Smith began his career as a rapper in the 1980s, and achieved success with his debut album Big Willie Style in 1997. In 1999, Smith starred in the science fiction film The Matrix as Neo, a computer programmer who is drawn into a rebellion against the machines who have enslaved humanity in an simulated reality known as the Matrix. The film was a box office success, grossing over $463 million worldwide, and established Smith as a Hollywood A-lister.

In 1991, Smith married Sheree Zampino. The couple had one son, Trey Smith, before divorcing in 1995. Smith married actress Jada Pinkett Smith in 1997. Together they have two children: Jaden Smith and Willow Smith.
